West Ham submit record bid for Carroll Englis10

English Premier League newcomers West Ham United have made a record bid for Liverpool striker Andy Carroll, according to ESPN.

Carroll joined Liverpool for £35 million from Newcastle United in January 2011, but has been linked with an Anfield exit this summer.

In fact, the Magpies tried to secure a season-long loan for the England international in mid-July. However, Liverpool rejected Newcastle United’s loan bid for the 6’3″ front-man.

Now the Reds and new boss Brendan Rodgers must answer to West Ham, who have submitted their own massive bid for Carroll.

West Ham have offered the Merseysiders £2 million to take Carroll on loan until the end of the 2012-13 season, with the option of making the move permanent for an additional £16 million.

The aforementioned proposal will be nullified should West Ham suffer relegation this season. In addition, the Hammers have agreed to meet Carroll’s £80,000-a-week wage demands.

At the moment, West Ham’s club record transfer fee is £7.5 million, which was paid to Liverpool for Craig Bellamy in July 2007. With that said, the Hammers’ bid for Carroll is more than double what they paid for Bellamy five years ago.

Nonetheless, one thing is certain, West Ham enjoy doing business with the Merseysiders.

The 23-year-old England international bagged four goals and two assists in 35 league appearances (21 starts) for the Reds last term.

Meanwhile, West Ham United’s attack is currently spearheaded by the likes of Carlton Cole and Ricardo Vaz Tê, who were both top 10 goal scorers in the English Championship last season.

Vaz Tê totaled 22 league goals for Barnsley and West Ham in 2011-12, including 12 goals and one assist in 18 appearances (16 starts) for the Hammers.

Furthermore, former Chelsea FC striker Carlton Cole bagged 15 goals and five assists in 42 league appearances for West Ham. Cole last played in England’s top flight in 2010-11.

Now then, would Andy Carroll be a good record signing for West Ham United?

Andy Carroll is great striker, superb header and I'm sure West Ham can utilise player like him if dead is successful.
